Transtector Now Offers UL 497 Listed ALPU-ALVR and New 90V POE Surge Protector

Tuesday, May 15, 2007
Transtector’s ALPU-ALVR and ALPU-90V will protect your 90V POE and WiMAX radios from three types of surges: over voltages, sneak current and fault current. Transtector’s 90V POE Series are the ultimate in protection and reliability for your high-speed packet network equipment. The ALPU-ALVR and ALPU-POE are purpose built for the BreezeMAX and other Alvarion broadband wireless radios. Both protectors can be used to protect 55VDC POE equipment at either location. The ALPU-ALVR has been tested by UL and is now listed as a primary protector under UL497. Transtector Systems designed an enhanced low capacitance ALPU-ALVR in response to Alvarion’s need for a UL 497 listed primary protector. It is the only protector currently listed for that purpose. The 55V POE Series units are configured with three types of surge protection: silicon diodes for over voltage, fuses for power line cross, and PTCR (positive temperature coefficient resistors) for sneak current. By incorporating bridge rectifiers into the design, minimal capacitance is achieved for high frequency signals. With designs that minimize impedance, the 55V POE Series units provide the ultimate in low insertion loss so that your packets will reach their destination without interference generated by your surge protection system. With fast reacting, low clamping 100% silicon avalanche diode technology, the 90V POE Series protects sensitive broadband wireless electronic equipment. The series is for 55VDC operation of CAT-5 Ethernet Lines. The products are designed for primary and secondary protection and available through the Transtector vendors Anixter, Hutton, Tessco and WinnCom. Product Detail: ALPU-ALVR, ALPU-90V

About Transtector Systems
Transtector is an international provider of power quality products including AC, DC, data and signal surge protection, communications power cabinets, EMP protection, lightning protection, and power quality engineering services. Established in 1967, Transtector was the first surge suppression designer to use non-degrading silicon diodes. Our patented, proprietary silicon avalanche suppressor diode (SASD) technology allows for less let-through voltage and lower clamp levels than other surge protection products. No one understands suppression and power quality issues like Transtector.
